The CTA 3200 Series is a type of "L" train used on the Chicago Transit Authority system. These railcars were built by Morrison-Knudsen between 1992 and 1994, and there are 257 cars, numbered 3201 to 3457.
They were originally delivered for the opening of the Orange Line, and also served on the Brown, Purple, and Yellow Lines. Today, most 3200 Series cars run on the Brown and Orange Lines. They have a stainless steel body, with a flat front, LED lights, and sliding side doors. When first delivered, they included features like automated destination signs and were the first CTA cars to use AC propulsion.
Over the years, they’ve been upgraded with things like security cameras and new signs. The 3200 Series is now being phased out and will eventually be replaced by a new 9000 Series.
