Pace Pulse is a rapid bus service in the Chicago suburbs, designed to be faster and more comfortable than regular buses. It uses special stations with raised platforms, heated shelters, Wi-Fi, and real-time signs, giving it a light rail feel but at a lower cost.
The first route, the Pulse Milwaukee Line, opened in 2019 between Jefferson Park and Golf Mill. The second, the Pulse Dempster Line, started in 2023 and runs between O’Hare Airport and Evanston. Both lines use technology that helps buses get more green lights, making trips quicker.
Pulse buses come more often, usually every 15–20 minutes, and cost the same as regular Pace rides. Future Pulse routes are planned for Halsted, 95th Street, Cermak, and more.
