The Rock Island Line terminates at LaSalle Street Station and Joliet, Illinois. The track is owned by Metra, and was bought from the bankrupt Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad. On the Rock Island District, 40 trains operate in each direction on weekdays. There are proposals to extend the line to LaSalle-Peru, but there are no active plans. In October of 2023, Metra announced the order of 16 lightweight Stadler FLIRT electric trainsets that will most likely be used on the Beverly Branch.
The Beverly Branch is a branch off the main line, terminating at Blue Island-Vermont Street Station.
