Millennium Station is a major commuter rail station located beneath Millennium Park in downtown Chicago, at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street. It was originally known as Randolph Street Station and was rebuilt into the modern Millennium Station in 2005. The station is mostly underground and is used by Metra Electric trains and the South Shore Line, which travels all the way to South Bend, Indiana. Metra Electric trains connect the city with the South Side and suburbs like Hyde Park, Homewood, and University Park. The station has wide platforms, bright lights, and an indoor concourse with shops and places to eat. It’s also connected to the Pedway, a system of underground walkways that link buildings and transit in the Loop. Since it’s right next to Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago, it’s a perfect spot for visitors, too. Even though it’s underground, Millennium Station is clean, busy, and a big part of Chicago’s daily transit system.
