The SouthWest Service operates out of Union Station and terminating in Manhattan, Illinois. Metra operates 30 trains on this route, with 15 in each direction. Since 2020, Saturday service has been suspended, and there is no Sunday or Holiday service.
Metra has future plans to redirect this line to LaSalle Street Station. This would involve expansion of LaSalle Street Station, and less congestion and delays at Union Station.
