The Milwaukee District West line runs from Union Station to Elgin, Illinois, with weekday service ending at Big Timber Road. 26 trains operate in each direction on weekdays. The line is going to be extended to Rockford, Illinois, with the extension expected to be opened in 2027. The extension will be the first intercity rail between Rockford and Chicago since Amtrak's Black Hawk service was discontiued in 1981.
